Encourage patients to ask questions about EHRs [VIDEO]

Getting used to new technology can be difficult for anyone – and this includes healthcare providers and their patients. If you're having a little trouble adjusting to the switch from paper-based files to electronic ones, you should assume that your patients may be a little uncomfortable with the idea as well.

This is only natural, considering patients are used to hearing about data breaches and other online security concerns all the time. This is why you should address these problems head-on and talk to your patients about EHRs. Make sure they understand that your system is secure, and that EHRs are helping keep doctors connected to patients anytime, anywhere.

Ask if patients have any questions about this technology and encourage them to access their files online – they may find that they love having improved access to their records and the ability to take their care into their own hands.
