Despite earlier concerns, research has shown that EHRs do not increase Medicare fraud. Still, there may be some healthcare providers who are concerned that they may inadvertently commit billing or documentation errors with EHRs.

Thankfully, there are steps providers can take to keep this from happening. Fierce EMR pointed out that doctors should be extra careful when using time-saving EHR functions that could lead to errors.

For example, don't use copy-and-paste to copy whole sections of an EHR, and be careful about using auto-complete functions.
