Exscribe Partners With Columbia Orthopaedic Group

May 6, 2014 – Columbia Orthopaedic Group is partnering with Exscribe Inc. for its Electronic Health Record (EHR) with a launch date scheduled for July 2014. “After researching eight EHR providers, Exscribe came out by far on top in every category from streamlining workflow, to ease of use, to saving money for our practice,” said Gene Austin, CEO, Columbia Orthopaedic Group, a Missouri-based practice with 29 physicians and 13 physician assistants.

“We were drawn to Exscribe’s EHR because of its strong market presence in orthopedics. While our current EMR platform served us well in making our initial EHR transition, it wasn’t designed for orthopaedics so workflow wasn’t designed the way orthopedic surgeons work. We brought Exscribe in to demo their EHR for our physicians. Based on their response and our grading system, Exscribe was the clear choice,” added Austin.

Exscribe COO Richard McCormick said, “Orthopedists understand the inherent benefits to using an EHR system that is built specifically for their workflow. We all know that the documentation requirements are becoming more stringent; therefore requiring more physician interaction with their EHR system. This makes it more important than ever that their system enhances their patient flow, supports their compliance efforts and positions them well for future performance-based reimbursement programs. Columbia Orthopaedics prides itself in providing a high-quality, personalized service to their community; a sentiment that is shared by Exscribe.”

Austin said they were looking to maintain or increase the number of patients seen and to simplify the work process. “We are confident Exscribe’s EHR can do that and more,” said Austin. Columbia Orthopaedics also stated another major consideration when selecting an EHR is that their physicians were looking forward to being nearly done with documenting when they walk out of the exam room.
